Terms of Use

The rules for using Velvet Run. Short version: publish your own work, be decent, and you stay in control of what you post.

Last updated 7 October 2026

1. Who we are and what this covers

Velvet Run is run by Leon Meyer-Landrut (see imprint). These terms apply when you create an account and publish content. You can read the site without an account; then only sections 8 to 10 and 12 apply.

2. The service

Velvet Run is a free community site for challenge runs of ATLUS role-playing games: a reference database, challenge rulesets, a run tracker, leaderboards, community statistics, builds and guides. It is an independent fan project and not affiliated with or endorsed by ATLUS, SEGA or their affiliates. There is no right to a particular feature or to uninterrupted availability; we may change or end features.

3. Your account

  • You sign in with Discord or Google. One account per person; don't pose as someone else, Velvet Run, ATLUS or SEGA.
  • If you are under 18, you need your parent's or guardian's permission to create an account.
  • Keep your Discord or Google account secure — whoever can sign in there can act as you here.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Account & privacy.

4. Your content and the rights you grant

You keep the rights to what you publish (runs, notes, builds, guides, challenges, profile text). So that Velvet Run can show it, you grant the operator a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence to store, reproduce, format, display and distribute it within Velvet Run (including previews when someone shares a link), to keep backups and to moderate it. The licence is limited to running the service; it does not allow selling your content or publishing it elsewhere. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups that expire on their own (up to 30 days) and for a challenge other players have already run, which stays without your name so their runs keep their rules.

You must hold the rights to what you publish, or be allowed to use it. Run claims must be honest: don't publish runs you didn't play or proof that isn't yours.

5. What is not allowed

  • Copyrighted material you have no rights to: game artwork, screenshots and music you didn't make, copied guides, wiki text or databases.
  • Pirated files, ROMs, game dumps, cracks, save-file or cheat downloads, or links to them.
  • Illegal content of any kind, including threats, incitement, child sexual abuse material and violations of personality rights.
  • Harassment, hate, insults and publishing other people's personal data.
  • Spam, advertising without permission, malware or phishing links, and attempts to manipulate leaderboards or statistics.

6. Reports and moderation

Anyone can report content through the report form (also linked on runs, guides, builds, challenges and profiles). People on the team — not automated systems — review reports and content. They can verify runs, hide content and delete content that breaks these terms or the law, and add internal notes. Measures are proportionate: usually the affected content is hidden; for serious or repeated breaches we can end the user agreement and close the account.

If we restrict something you published, you get a statement of reasons in Account & privacy: what we did, why (the rule or law), whether a report led to it, and how to contest it. You can contest any decision through the contact form with the reference shown; a person who wasn't involved reviews it where possible. Your right to go to court remains. If content suggests a threat to someone's life or safety, we inform the authorities.

7. Deleting runs and accounts

You can permanently delete each of your runs and your whole account yourself. What is removed, and what little remains (a deleted run's ID for 30 days; reports you sent, without your account), is described in the privacy policy. Deleting a proof link removes it from Velvet Run only, not from the site that hosts the video.

8. Game data, sources and trademarks

The database states facts about the games, checked against the sources named on each entry and on Sources & Licences; values the sources don't confirm are left blank. Velvet Run's texts and design are protected; game titles, names and other trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to name the games.

9. Advertising and sponsored content

Velvet Run shows no ads today. If ads, sponsored content or affiliate links are added, they will always be labelled as such ("Advertisements", "Sponsored by …", links marked with an asterisk), kept apart from the database and leaderboards, and advertising cookies will only be used with your consent.

10. Liability

The service is free. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential obligations — those that make the service possible at all and on which you may rely — and limited to the typical, foreseeable damage. Otherwise our liability for slight negligence is excluded. We are not responsible for content other players publish, but we act on it once we know it is unlawful.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service or the law changes. Signed-in players will be told about significant changes before they apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account. Changes to the core of the service won't be made by silence.

12. Applicable law

German law applies. If you use Velvet Run as a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live remain unaffected. There is no agreement on the place of jurisdiction; the statutory rules apply.
